House Approves $200M for Road Funding

Today, the House to passed legislation approving $200 million for road, bridge and infrastructure improvement projects.

Our streets are the lifeblood of our communities: whether you’re riding a bike to work, walking to the grocery store, riding the bus to a show, or just driving through, safe, efficient roads are crucial to our economy.

These funds go directly to roadway projects, and allow vital projects to move forward at the start of construction season.

The legislation complements the $843M investment we made to bring 152 Orange Line cars and 372 Red Line MBTA trains to the system. Those cars are already being tested on the system and expected to be in operation in 2019.

Based on the distribution formula, Boston would receive $14.7M and Brookline would receive $938K.

The bill now goes to the Senate.
