BOSTON—State Representative Jeffrey Sánchez (D-Boston), House Chairman of the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing, has released a statement on the Center for Health Information and Analysis’ 2015 Annual Report on the Performance of the Massachusetts Health Care System:
The CHIA report released today paints a complicated picture. The Joint Committee on Health Care Financing’s legislative docket includes bills that cover a number of the issues raised by the CHIA report. As the health plans, hospitals, providers, and consumer groups come before us to argue for their specific bills, it will be a collective opportunity to question them on their contributions to our reform efforts. In 28 months, we are supposed to raise the bar for health care cost growth when the benchmark will be set at 0.5 % below GSP. The question we need to ask ourselves is: three years into our cost containment efforts, are we doing enough in transforming both the public and private marketplace to meet the targets we set in 2012?
