On Wednesday, December 20th, State Representative Jeffrey Sánchez joined the Bromley-Heath Tenant Board to host a Christmas celebration at the Jamaica Plain Housing Project. It was a fun night filled with music, raffles, and tons of toys!
The celebration was made possible through a variety of different toy drives and donations. The Representative hosted a toy drive, setting up donation boxes at Mike's Donuts and Milkweed in Mission Hill and Caffe Nero, City Feed, and BPD District E-13 Station in Jamaica Plain. Thanks to the generosity of these businesses, over 150 toys were collected. Further, local residents donated toy directly to the Representative.
Local real estate agent Stephen Lussier donated big ticket items that were raffled off, including 2 BMX bikes.
At the beginning of the party there were nearly 500 toys, made possible through the combined generosity of the Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain community. As a result, over 150 children walked out of the celebration with a toy, when they might not have otherwise received a Christmas present this year.
The Bromley-Heath development is the largest public housing development in New England, and is located in the Jackson Square section of Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood.
