BOSTON—Representative Sánchez invites youth and youth-serving organizations in the 15th Suffolk District to apply to summer scholarships, internships, and opportunities.
“Summer jobs are a great opportunity to expose students to new ideas and career paths,” Sánchez said after speaking to a group of local students. “I hope to see a vigorous effort to educate and employ the future leaders in our neighborhood.”
John S. Martinez (JSM) Leadership Scholarship: Offered by the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL), this scholarship is awarded to 11 Latino public high school students who reside in the district of a Hispanic state legislator. The scholarship is awarded to students recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Each scholarship recipient will be awarded a one-time $3,000 grant towards their higher education in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements and leadership.

Meredith Cameron Youth Opportunity Internship: Offered by the New England Baptist Hospital, this paid internship program aims to provide high school and college students from the Mission Hill area with a meaningful summer employment experience. Over the course of 8-10 weeks, participating students will have the opportunity to become fully immersed in a single area of hospital operations, while gaining critical exposure to a variety of career paths within the health care field.

Congressional Internship Program: Offered by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), promising Latino undergraduate students will experience what it’s like to work in a congressional office while participating in weekly professional and leadership development and civic engagement through community service. This is a paid summer internship that gives students the opportunity to spend a summer in Washington DC gaining real world experience.
