State Representative Jeffrey Sánchez announced today his full support of the MOREJobs Capital Program, a program which helps cities and towns pay for infrastructure needed to simulate economic growth. The program, part of last session’s economic stimulus bill, aims to help finance public infrastructure associated with business expansin and relocation projects.
“I am excited that the State is able to offer this new tool to municipalities in order to bolster their efforts to attract quality companies and quality jobs to the Commonwealth,” Representative Sánchez said. “I will continue to work hard for State programs that help local leaders provide more and higher quality jobs to the people of the Commonwealth.”
Representative Sánchez has filed legislation in this session, that if passed, will create an additional $200 million in state grant funding for public infrastructure improvements associated with large scale economic development projects.
“My hope is that State government can form a strong partnership with municipal leaders, through programs such as MOREJobs as well as other legislation and initiatives currently under review, in order to create and sustain high paying jobs for citizens throughout the Commonwealth,” Sánchez said.
Guidelines and applications for the MOREJobs Capital Program are now available online at (www.mass.gov/MOREJobs). Applications for 2007 are due May 1.
