Boston—On Thursday, March 20 Representative Jeffrey Sánchez (D-Jamaica Plain) congratulated Midge Foley, a teacher at the Early Education Center in Jamaica Plain, for receiving the 2007 AANE Award for Excellence in Teaching Students with Asperger Syndrome. A representative from Sánchez’s office presented Midge with a citation in recognition of her achievement prior to a ceremony held at the state house’s Great Hall Thursday afternoon. Foley is one of ten educators who received the Presidential honor.
“It is important to recognize educators, especially those that are challenged by working with youth with disabilities. Such educators can become special in our lives because they have helped our children to blossom and be successful despite their challenges. We are forever grateful to them” says Sánchez.
Sanchez was unable to attend the ceremony due to House session.
