Marty Walsh Signs Ordinance Banning Smokeless Tobacco At Boston Ballparks — Including Fenway

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has signed a ban on chewing tobacco and other smokeless tobacco products at ballparks in the city — including Fenway Park.

The law bans the use of tobacco products like dip, chew, snuff and snus from ballparks in the city.

Walsh signed the bill into law at Hemenway Park in Dorchester Wednesday morning with state Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez, Boston Chief of Health and Human Services Felix Arroyo and Boston Public Health Commission Director Huy Nguyen.

The mayor announced the ban at Moakley Park in South Boston last month with former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who has blamed chewing tobacco for his bout with mouth cancer.
